Bird Walk with Angela Dimmitt

Date: 5/2/2020
Time: 7:30 AM -
Location: Wimisink Preserve Boardwalk

Join us on Saturday May 2 to see early Spring Birds in Sherman.

This walk has become a treasured Sherman birding tradition.  The walk will be led by Angela Dimmitt, an expert birder, who often can call in the shy species.  She will tell us what species we are hearing and where to look to see it. We have seen and/or heard more that 30 different species during previous events.  Wimisink Preserve is an Important Bird Area with critical habitats for a variety of species.

Meet at 7:30 am at the Wimisink Preserve - park in the parking area near the Wimisink Boardwalk (along the west side of Route 39 just south of the intersection with Route 55). We will spend time on the observation platform overlooking the Wimisink swamp for the beavers, ducks and birds of the wetlands.  Birds are most vocal in the Spring and more easily seen before the trees are fully leafed out.

The walking will be slow and easy, so anyone can join.  Bring binoculars if you have them and a bird book if you wish. If there’s time and interest, we may explore another Naromi location for forest interior birds. As always, wear sturdy shoes, bring water/snack, take precautions against ticks, and last but not least, let us know you are coming!

SPACE IS LIMITED.  Please RSVP to reserve your spot at office@naromi.org or call 860-354-0260.
